Clubcall -Queens Park Rangers - Boss reveals injury shocker
EXCLUSIVE15 Dec 2005 17:13
In an exclusive interview with clubcall, Queens Park Rangers boss Ian Holloway has revealed that promising defender Dominic Shimmin is set to spend up to twelve weeks on the sidelines after a recurrence of a groin injury, writes Kevin Hatchard.
The former Arsenal trainee hasn't featured for the first team since September 24, and Holloway has revealed his disappointment at his injury problems:
"Dominic's out for between six to twelve weeks. That's a real blow because I wanted him to come in and fight for a place this season, but sadly he's been hampered by injury."
Conversely, defender Matthew Rose is now back in training after a long spell out, but Holloway insists he will not be rushed back into first team action: "He's been out for twelve weeks so my physio's told me to be quite careful, but at least he's back in training."
Holloway has guided his injury-hit squad to within five points of a playoff place, and insists his players deserve great credit for their achievements so far:
"I think we've done really well. We'll keep going, and I'm hoping these injuries are just a phase.
"We've had two really good performances away from home and shown great spirit, so now let's see what we can do at home against Coventry."

FURLONG MISSES OUT
Paul Furlong misses Monday's nights game against Coventry after picking up a booking at Ipswich Town last week.
The Rangers frontman has only just returned from a four game suspension after being sent off at Derby County. It gives Ian Holloway a headache upfront with Stefan Moore and Shabazz Baidoo the only fully fit forwards at his disposal.
With Kevin Gallen and Marc Nygaard still struggling Georges Santos may be used upfront after he scored for the reserves in midweek.
