John Gregory On Ray Jones's Future

Kilburn Times re Ray Jones
QPR manager John Gregory has warned that unsettled striker Ray Jones will only be allowed to leave Loftus Road next month for a 'substantial' fee.
Rangers have already rejected a cheeky £50,000 offer from neighbours Fulham for the teenager, who has turned down several offers of a professional contract.
Jones' current deal runs out next summer and he would then be free to join another club, although Rangers would be entitled to compensation as he is only 18.
Gregory said: "I don't know whether Ray will go during January, but someone would have to offer us a substantial amount of money.
"We value him very highly but, if we lose him, we lose him. If he leaves in the summer, it will go to arbitration and when that happens it's normally the selling club that loses out.
"We've offered Ray an improved contract three times, but his agent's playing hardball with us, which I'm not happy about. He's turned it down every time and I'm just going to have to put up with the situation at the moment.
"
Jones emerged from the Rangers youth team towards the end of last season and made his first senior start in August against Southend, since when he has become a key player in Gregory's squad. Kilburn Times
