Ex-QPR Chairman Bill Power, STILL Being Linked to Swindon

-
Swindon Advertizer - Consortium has still got Power’ By Gareth Moorhouse

"TRUSTSTFC remains "100 per cent confident" Bill Power will continue to finance the fans' consortium bid to buy the club, despite rumours linking him with a return to QPR.
Power was chairman of the Championship outfit between 2003 and 2005, before a fall-out with current Loftus Road chief Gianni Paladini.
Last week Paladini announced his intention to sell the London-based club, with Power's name mentioned as a possible investor.
Reports suggested the pair met for lunch on Thursday, before Paladini told the club's AGM the following night that Power was interested in a possible return.
Trust chairman Davis, however, has been in close contact with Power and his business partner Phil Emmel, insists Town fans have no reason to panic about the collapse of the consortium's bid.
He said: "Every time there is talk of a takeover at QPR Bill Power is going to be linked with it.
"He is a high-profile name and a life long fan of the club, but this news is not making me nervous.
"We are in ongoing contact with Bill and Phil Emmel and we are 100 per cent confident they are committed to the fans' consortium and that their investment in Swindon Town Football club remains undiminished."
Power and his lawyers remain locked in talks with Swindon Town over the £1.2 million he invested in the County Ground club last April.
Power is adamant the money was offered as a loan, while the club insist the investment was made in return for shares.
He was unavailable for comment on the matter last night.
Meanwhile, the Trust yesterday made the contents of their letter to CVA administrator Andrew Andronikou public.
The letter, written in response to comments in Saturday's Swindon Advertiser, demanded an apology for Andronikou's remarks about "20 or 30 busybodies.'' The Trust letter said: "Fans' legitimate fears about the survival of their football club will not be allayed by vague promises.
"We would suggest that rather than dishing out gratuitous insults to the loyal fans of Swindon Town in the local media, you confine yourself to the job you were appointed to do - protecting the interests of the creditors." Swindon Advertizer
