Ian Holloway is today preparing another bid for Linfield striker Peter Thompson.
And this time the Plymouth Argyle manager appears determined to get his man.
Holloway skipped his team's pre-season friendly against Yeovil Town last night to be at Windsor Park last night to watch Thompson in action against Swedish side Elfsborg in the Champions League qualifiers and once again was impressed with the Northern Ireland international.
Now an official offer to take the player to the Championship is expected to land with the Blues as Thompson's dream of full-time football in England or Scotland moves closer.
Hollway's admiration of the 23-year-old hitman is no secret.
He was first at Windsor Park in January 2006 while manager of Queens Park Rangers and immediately made Linfield an offer for the player.
The Blues, however, asked for more money and the transfer window closed before a deal could be done.
He returned to Belfast almost exactly a year ago, shortly after taking over at Argyle, for the Blues friendly against Rangers and again put an offer on the table for Thompson.
That was also rejected, but Holloway is ready to test their resolve with another attempt to take the player to Devon.
Thompson could hardly have given a better performance in front of Holloway in the 0-0 draw.
Manager David Jeffrey said: "That was the best Thompson has played in a year and it's not because he was bad last season, look at the goals he scored."
