Snippets: Reporting Back for Training...Further Signings Next Week?...Flashbacks: Joe Gallen's Departure...Gary Waddock Appointment Announced

-
Reporting Back: QPR players should enjoy this weekend because on Monday, they report back for training under the new Ian Dowie (Tim Flowers/John Harbin/Gareth Ainsworth) coaching regime.

Ledesma signing: Friday saw the announcement of the year-long loan/option to buy signing of Emmanuel Jorge Ledesma. That brings to four, the number of signings made thus far during the close season.

Further Signings Forthcoming: July 1st, marks the official opening of the transfer market. According to various messageboard posters and the media, next week should see "a feast" of further signings, with the names of those coming pretty much "known" such as Fiorentina's Samuel Di Carmine (But of course until players actually sign, nothing is definite).

Interestingly, last season QPR had an Italian coaching staff, with predominantly English players (although after the De Canio appointment was made, fans expected an influx of players coming from Italy). Now if rumours are correct, the club, with their new English coaching team, seem to be branching out a little more, if signing rumours are correct.

Other developments this week: Continued "dispute" regarding Blackpool's Kaspars Gorkss and statements from Blackpool's Chairman. (Although thus far, have heard only from Blackpool. There has been no official comment from QPR.)

Flashback one Year, June 28, 2007: Youth Team Coach, Joe Gallen was dismissed by John Gregory, despite reportedly doing a great job. (Gallen quickly bounced back, and after a short time at Exeter, joined Millwall and is now their First team coach, under ex-QPR, Kenny Jackett.) (From a couple of years previously: An interesting Joe Gallen Interview with QPR Net.)

[New Coaching Hires: One year ago, tomorrow, June 29, 2007, QPR announced the hiring of ex-Wycombe coaches Steve Brown and Keith Ryan (both still at QPR)

Also one year ago (yesterday): coach, Warren Neil remaining at QPR announced; and Danny Nardiello's signing confirmed.

Flashback Two Years ago, today: Waddock Appointed -- Gary Waddock OFFICIALLY appointed Manager of QPR (after lengthy "Acting Manager") while Ian Holloway was appointed manager of Plymouth. A;; wished him well but many found Waddock's appointment a little strange given that the club had not had had a great record in his temporary time in charge.

(Also two years ago today: "The Trial" came to a "not guilty" conclusion.)

Still to come: The New Team Strip and "The Awarding" of Team Numbers. Who'll get the #1 shirt?
