Recalling a Year Ago: QPR's Worst First 10 Game Start Since Premiership Relegation

This season after 10 games, QPR had 14 points. (After QPR's Saturday victory over Nottingham Forest, QPR moved onto 17 points from 11 games.)

This time last season, QPR, were bottom with 7 points from 10 games; having made their worst ten game start to a season since their Premiership relegation. Relegation would have seemed a certainty were it not for the fact that with new ownership, finances for transfers to strengthen the team seemed rather likely. QPR were in the process of finding a permanent replacement for John Gregory. It was reported that it was going to be Francesco Guidolin, until at the last moment he turned down QPR "Guidolin Installed this Week?"

QPR's SEASON-BY-SEASON STARTS

Previous Seasons First 10 Games

In 2007-2008 (Gregory/Harford) QPR had 7 points from First 10 Games

In 2006/2007 (Waddock/Gregory) QPR had 12 points from first 10 games

In 2005/2006 (Holloway), QPR took 15 points from first 10 Games

(In 2003-2004, 2002-2003 and 2001-2002, QPR were in the "Old Third Division")

In 2000/2001 (Gerry Francis) 11 points from first 10 games

QPR Report

Flashback II: Dave Thomas Debut: Thirty-six Years ago today
Thirty-six years ago today, QPR wonder winger, Dave Thomas made his QPR Debut after his record transfer signing for 165,000 pounds from Burnley.
Coming in for the tragically-injured Martyn Busby, Thomas had a not very good game, as QPR completed a five game winning streak, beating Sunderland 3-2 at Loftus Road (Bowles 2, Givens). Unlike Bowles, it took Thomas a little while to find his place in the QPR team.
Team for Thomas debut game: Parkes - Clement Evans Hazell Watson - Francis Venables Thomas - Leach Bowles Givens - More on Dave Thomas

Ex-QPR, Alan Glover Turns 58...
- Alan Glover - Born October 21, 1950: Glover made only seven appearances for QPR - all in our 1968/69 Relegation Trauma. Immediately, after our relegation, teenager Glover joined West Bromwich Albion for 70,000 pounds (including ex-QPR winger Clive Clark in part exchange). (The same fee QPR for Terry Venables a few months later). This a time when the record English transfer fee was just 150,000 pounds. Basically Glover sadly disappeared from the scene: in and out of the WBA team; and I believe ending up at Orient.
