London Informer/Paul Warburton - Heidar Helguson is QPR ace after gamble
QPR’s Heidar Helguson was last choice for a loan-signing - but may just turn out to be their best hope of a play-off place.
Heidar Helguson notched his second and third goals in a hooped shirt on Saturday to ease Rangers to a vital 3-2 win over Preston at Loftus Road.
Although top-scorer Dexter Blackstock came off the bench to grab his 10th of the season with a looping header to seal the points, manager Paulo Sousa was full of praise for on-loan Helguson.
But Informer Sport can reveal the former Fulham forward was last-chance saloon earlier this month after efforts to borrow both Ched Evans and Daniel Sturridge from Manchester City came to nothing.
An Rs source admitted: "Heidar had been injured, and it was a gamble. But sometimes you throw down an ace."
Rangers will look to make Helguson a permanent £1m signing in January

London Informer/Dec 22 2008 By Paul Warburton - Jimmy Bullard on thin ice at Fulham
Brinkmanship can be a dangerous game – especially close to a river – and it could be either Jimmy Bullard or Fulham will take a bath in January.
The Whites midfielder is asking for an improved contract close to £50,000-a-week, but boss Roy Hodgson has already hinted his player’s demands may be a wage-packet too far despite Bullard’s opener in the 3-0 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday.
If contract talks founder, Fulham will want to cash in on a player who has already been a surprise call-up for the England squad this season.
Ben Watson at Crystal Palace, who QPR also want, is the reported target replacement. London Informer
