QPR Official Site - FAURLIN: THE FIRST INTERVIEW
- New signing Alejandro Faurlin spoke exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk late last night (Tuesday), after putting pen to paper on a three year deal with the R's.
- The Argentine midfielder, who R's Assistant Manager John Gorman identified on a recent scouting trip to South America, is clearly delighted to be starting the next chapter of his short, but so far sweet career, in West London.
- "It's a great opportunity for me," he told www.qpr.co.uk, speaking through a translator.
- "I am proud to be in England and playing for a Club like Queens Park Rangers."
- Faurlin, who through broken English revealed that fellow Argentine showman Carlos Tevez is his hero, added: "I am delighted to be here.
- "The football over here is very different to Argentina, but I will work hard to adapt to the English game.
- "I want to show my qualities and I have already been very impressed with the quality of my team-mates. The standard and intensity of the training is very high and really impressive."
- Faurlin, who is currently awaiting international clearance before his move to Loftus Road is rubber stamped, can't wait to pull on a QPR shirt for the first time, adding: "I just want to play now.
- "I feel very fit and can't wait for the chance to show the fans what I am capable of.
- "I hope to achieve big things at QPR." QPR

Eleven a side.com - Connolly earns QPR chance
" Former Republic of Ireland forward David Connolly has earned a trial at Coca-Cola Championship side QPR.
Connolly’s time at Sunderland came to an end following the expiry of his contract last week.
The well-travelled 32-year-old is certain to drop down a division, and new QPR chief Jim Magilton will offer him the chance to impress at Loftus Road.
Connolly spent three years at the Stadium of Light, scoring 13 goals in 39 league appearances, but following a succession of injuries has failed to make a single first-team appearance since January 2008. Eleven-a-side

QPR Off to Bahrain Next Season?
Ben Kosky/Kilburn Times - Middle East trip still in the pipeline

QPR are hoping to reschedule their postponed trip to the Middle East during an international break next season.

Rangers had arranged to play the Bahrain national team in a friendly at the end of last season as part of their sponsorship deal with Gulf Air.

A clash with the Asian Football Confederation elections was given as the reason for calling the match off, although there was also little enthusiasm among the Rs' squad for playing in temperatures of around 40 degrees.

QPR's deputy managing director Ali Russell admitted: "Fitting it into the calendar is difficult. Pre-season is extremely hot in that part of the world and it wouldn't have been suitable.

"However, there may be an international break we can look at and we're in discussions with the federation, who were very apologetic that they weren't able to fulfil the original fixture.

"We have a great partnership with the kingdom of Bahrain through Gulf Air and we want QPR to be the team of choice there, both for locals and ex-pats.

"Our Community team have been out there coaching kids and helping people to enjoy football the QPR way, so we're moving onto the next phase, to have the team play in the country and get people excited about that."

Meanwhile, Rangers will head to Slovenia and Croatia for a week-long training camp after their opening pre-season friendly at Aldershot Town this Saturday.

Much-travelled striker David Connolly, who was released by Sunderland at the end of last season and is training at Loftus Road, is likely to feature for the Rs at Aldershot.

Argentinean midfielder Alejandro Faurlin, who signed a three-year contract with Rangers on Tuesday, may have to wait for his debut as international clearance is yet to be granted. Kilburn Times
