Barnsley Official Site - FOOTBALL LEAGUE ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL CHARITY PARTNER
- THE Football League's official charity partner for the 2010/11 season is Marie Curie Cancer Care.
- The charity cares for people with Cancer and other life limiting illnesses. Their services are always free of charge to patients and their families, and the charity is best known for its network of Marie Curie Nurses working in the community to provide end-of-life care for patients in their own homes.
- Their work is done across the UK, including each of the Football League club communities. They also have nine hospices, conduct palliative care research to find better ways of caring for terminally ill people and fund scientific teams investigating the causes of and treatments for Cancer.
- Last season's work with Help for Heroes was tremendously successful - Football League clubs helped raise awareness and more than £300,000 through bucket collections and initiatives, and the League hopes to do even more this season.
- An official launch will take place on Tuesday 3rd August, and, aiming to repeat the success of last year's 'Football for Heroes Week', the divisions will stage a week of action from 7 to 13 March 2011." Barnsley Official Site
