INDEPENDENT: We know what your team needs this summer...
"There will be plenty of comings and goings in the top flight during the next two months, so Jack Pitt-Brooke makes sense of budgets, potential signings and those players who are likely to be heading for the exit..."

QPR What do they need?Much depends on Neil Warnock: will he stay, and if so will he buy trusted names or have marquee signings imposed? Keeping Adel Taarabt is crucial.

Who do they want?
Cedric Hengbert from Auxerre and Kyle Naughton or Craig Mackail-Smith. Robbie Keane and Andrew Johnson have also been mentioned.

SKY - Muntari keeping options open
Midfielder intrigued by QPR speculation
By Giscard Gourizro.
....Sulley Muntari is refusing to rule out a move to Queens Park Rangers after seeing his loan spell at Sunderland come to an end.

The midfielder made the move from Inter Milan to the Stadium of Light in January on a deal that could have become permanent in the summer.

However, the Black Cats opted not to pursue such an option and Muntari admits he was disappointed with their decision.

The Ghana international, 26, is now waiting to see what opportunities come his way after being linked with several other clubs.

He would be prepared to return to Inter and fight for a place in the team, but is also open to the idea of staying in England.

Newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers have been credited with an interest in Muntari and the former Portsmouth man is intrigued by the speculation.

"I would have loved to stay with Sunderland," he told skysports.com.

"I love the Premier League but do not forget I belong to one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"QPR? Why not, it will be a start. I have done it with another good English manager at Portsmouth.

"We even won the FA Cup, so you never know."

Herald - QPR in hunt to sign Cork star Cummins
Friday June 10 2011

GRAEME CUMMINS is set to become Cork City's latest export to England as a number of Championship clubs are poised to bid for the in-form striker.

In the past decade, Cork City have sold 15 players to British clubs with four of them – Kevin Doyle, Shane Long, Alan Bennett and Damien Delaney – going on to win senior caps, while others – such as David Meyler, Roy O'Donovan, Dave Mooney and Colin Healy – have gone on to play at a high level abroad.

This season a batch of Championship clubs – as well as Premier League newcomers QPR – have been keeping tabs on striker Cummins, who attracted more attention last Monday when he scored the winner for Cork as they knocked St Patrick's Athletic out of the EA Sports Cup, his 10th goal of the season.

CONVERTED

Cummins previously played for Cobh Ramblers and Waterford United, and had initially been a centre-half until then manager Stephen Henderson converted him to a front role. He scored 34 goals in two seasons (2009, 2010) with Waterford and Cork City.

Millwall, Reading and Birmingham City all had scouts in Turner's Cross last Monday to see Cummins against Pat’s and the scouts will be out in force again tonight when City take on Athlone Town.

QPR have also sent a representative to see Cummins but it's thought that a move to the Championship is more likely if a club agrees to pay the minimum fee of €100,000, which Cork have placed on his head.

(Once almost-QPR) Sunil Chhetri to Benfica?

Indian Ace Sunil Chhetri signs Preseason Contract with Benfica – Portuguese Primeira Liga news

Posted By: Michael Anderson

The Blue Tigers International will be the first Indian to play at the Estadio de Luz, if he impresses manager Jorge Jesus with his abilities.

The talented 26-year-old started his career with Mohun Bagan in the Indian Football League, where he scored 8 goals in 18 appearances. His goals included four over Gujarat in the Santosh Trophy in the 2004/2005 season. Chhetri was then handed a transfer to JCT Mills in 2005 where he established himself as a pivotal figure in Indian Football, and through his predatory instincts in front of goal, the Indian International netted a respectable 20 goals in 48 appearances.

For his goal poaching feats, he was awarded the league's "Player of the Year" award in the 2006/2007 Season, followed by the AIFF Player of the Year in 2007, drawing comparisons between him and Indian Football Legend, Baichung Bhutia.

His talents did not go unnoticed abroad and reportedly several foreign clubs were interested in signing the mercurial striker, and a move to Queens Park Rangers only failed because he was not awarded a British Work Permit.

He then signed for East Bengal in the 2008/09 season, scoring 7 goals in 14 appearances. A trial with Coventry City was on the cards but again a transfer failed to materialize and Chhetri moved to Dempo SC in India. His move to the Whites proved to be a fruitful one as he scored 8 goals in only 13 appearances, which resulted in a trial and eventual transfer to Kansas City Wizards of the Major League Soccer.

Although he did not make a league appearance for the Wizards, the moved was hailed as a positive one by the Indian Fans.

After returning to India, Chhetri signed for Chirag United SC in 2011, for whom he has scored a remarkable 7 goals in 7 appearances.

Although his club career has been shaky at times, his International career has been nothing less than phenomenal. The former Mohun Bagan man has found the back of the net 22 times in just 49 appearances for the Blue Tigers. His feats for the National side include goals against Bahrain and Asian giants South Korea at the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.

Chhetri has managed raise the awareness of the beautiful game in a place where cricket makes all the headlines, but whether he can make headlines in Portugal is a different matter altogether. Report
