Daily Star Sunday/Steve Morgan - JOSE MOURINHO THINKS FAURLIN IS THE REAL DEAL
-
ALEJANDRO FAURLIN is ready to make a shock switch from Premier League new-boys QPR to Real Madrid.
- Bernabeu chief Jose Mourinho has already inquired about the Argentine midfielder and looks set to follow up his interest with a bid for the playmaker.
- QPR adviser and former Napoli coach Gianni Di Marzio confirmed: “Several clubs have asked about Faurlin. Even Real Madrid have been in touch.”
- Faurlin, 24, was at the centre of a third-party ownership row which could have led to Rangers being deducted points – and the Championship title – last season.
- The Loftus Road club were eventually found guilty of breaching FA regulations on two counts and fined £875,000 but were not docked any points and went up as champions last month. Faurlin snubbed offers from Spain, Italy and Greece to join Rangers for £3.5million in 2009.
- One of the deals he rejected was from Inter Milan – who were managed by Mourinho at the time.
- But the Special One has continued to keep an eye on Faurlin – and now wants to take him to the Bernabeu in a bid to win next season’s La Liga title. Star

Sky/Juha Pal - Lecce wanted Buzsaky - QPR spurned bid for Hungarian schemer
- The agent of Queens Park Rangers midfielder Akos Buzsaky has claimed Italian club Lecce wanted to sign his client last season.
- Although QPR enjoyed an excellent campaign last term in winning promotion it proved to be one of frustration for Buzsaky as he made just 16 appearances for Neil Warnock's side due to injury.
- The talented Hungary international is now fully fit though and ready to test himself at Premier League level.
- Rumours have circulated about his future amid speculation Lecce are still monitoring his situation at QPR but while agent Vladan Filipovic acknowledges their interest, he insists the fans' favourite is staying at Loftus Road.
- "Akos deserves to play in the Premier League," he told the Hungarian edition of FourFourTwo.
- "I think it suits his style more than the Championship. It's useless to give credit to the reports that he'd be released because the club hasn't mentioned that to me, or him.
- "Akos is an important QPR player. Last year Lecce wanted to sign him but the club officials didn't let him go.
- "Flavio Briatore told me a couple of times that he's one of his favourite players." Sky

West Ham unlikely to secure marquee Toon signing
Published 23:05 11/06/11 By Paul Smith

- Sam Allardyce’s hopes of being reunited with Newcastle skipper Kevin Nolan appear to be subsiding.
- West Ham’s opening offer for the influential midfielder amounted to just £1.5million, but Newcastle have not ruled out selling Nolan if any club is prepared to meet their £4m valuation, which has alerted London clubs QPR and Fulham.
- Stoke and West Brom are also monitoring Nolan’s situation..." Mirror

EDP 24/Chris Lakey - Norwich City get the thumbs up from Dowie
- ....- QPR, a side Dowie played for and managed, have yet to recruit, although Williams is said to be on their shopping list.
“QPR have got a very good chance of staying up if they can settle things down,” said Dowie. “There is a little bit of turmoil going on behind the scenes, but they’ve got a manager who knows his way around the division having been there with Sheffield United.
“They’ve got a very good defensive base which will help them; they kept 25 clean sheets last season. They’re also very good at home in the tight surroundings of Loftus Road. They don’t need a major overhaul, but I sense with the right investment they have the opportunity to do well.” EDP24

Daily Record - Ex-Airdrie star Chris Honor: I hated George Peat for finishing my career at 26 and I'll never forgive him - Jun 12 2011 Gordon Waddell, Sunday Mail
"...."When my contract was up in 1994 I wanted to move south to marry my fiancee Kirsty.
"George said they wouldn't be hard to deal with and that they would take £50,000 for me. So I went looking for clubs on that basis."
Honor's stock was high and he landed a dream crack at England's top flight - with QPR boss Gerry Francis a fan.
He said: "I did pre-season and went on tour with QPR. Gerry knew there would be a fee involved and was happy with it.
"I'll never forget sitting in his office when he phoned Peat to do the deal, only to hear him renege on it. He obviously heard it was the Premiership, saw the pound signs, and trebled the fee.
"I was two weeks away from making my Premiership debut at Old Trafford on the opening day.
"Eventually Gerry just turned to me and said: 'I need a defender. I'm going to have to look elsewhere.'
"He knew he could get someone from down south for no fee at all.
"I had other clubs interested but none of them could understand how a guy could be out of contract and still cost them money - especially when that fee seemed to vary...." Daily Record

AMIT BHATIA CONTRIBUTION TO QPR IN THE COMMUNITY

QPR Official Site - TIGERS CUBS HANDED FUNDING BOOST
QPR in the Community Trust have received a major funding boost with the news that 'Global Relief Initiative' - a registered charity founded by Trustee Amit Bhatia - is committed to supporting, for a three-year period, the R's Tiger Cubs, a fully inclusive Football Club for children with Downs Syndrome (DS).

The financial support given by Bhatia - which was agreed prior to the end of the 2010/11 campaign - is set to benefit the Club by eight times than its current outreach.

Founded in 2008, the Tiger Cubs project has gone from strength to strength and is a scheme that the Community Trust, QPR and its fans are extremely proud of.

The Cubs - endorsed by the DS Association and winners of the 'Inclusive and Active' category at the recent Hammersmith & Fulham Community Sports Awards - currently deliver:

*Football activities led by highly-qualified coaches for people with Down Syndrome

*Coaching sessions that are fun, developmental and safe

*Promoting improved social, physical and health wellbeing

*Promoting active lifestyles

*Activities for all ages and abilities

However, thanks to Global Relief Initiative's kind donation, the Cubs will now look to build on their recent success story, with expansion plans including:

*Expanding the Tiger Cubs into Westminster & Hillingdon

*Developing the Tiger Cubs' teenage players into future coaches

*Entering the Middlesex Pan-Disability Football League

*Be at the forefront of DS Football - Best practice

*Parental support workshops - Lifestyle education, transport, road Safety, transition & money matters

*Developing football specific coaches' courses

*Hosting a DS QPR Cup at Loftus Road

Bhatia - who has been an active ambassador of the Community Trust since its formation over two-and-a-half years ago - set up the Global Relief Initiative in 2010 to help improve and enhance the lives of people in need, particularly those who are living in socially or economically disadvantaged communities throughout the world.

The charity is grant-awarding which facilitates the making of financial and other contributions to fellow charities which, in turn, use such contributions to further and enhance their line of social change.

On the subject of his donation to the Tiger Cubs, Bhatia said: "Myself, as well as the team at Global Relief Initiative, am incredibly proud and excited about the recent association with the QPR Tiger Cubs.

"The work that they do for children with Downs Syndrome is exceptional and we are very much looking forward to helping them expand their support network and this opportunity to a wider population."

Trust CEO Andy Evans also took time to praise the gift from Bhatia's charity, adding: "The beauty of working with the Tiger Cubs in partnership with Global Relief Initiative is that QPR in the Community Trust are able to provide much needed support to families and individuals within the QPR community, which is absolutely fantastic.

"Equally the Tiger Cubs are all so passionate about supporting QPR and are as excited about representing a Premier League team next season.

"Only a few years ago Football Clubs were viewed solely as teams that competed on the pitchevery weekend.

"A modern day Premier League Club does far more than that, they now have very dedicated Community Trust staff running an array of community-focused projects that are having an enormous impact in this case for children and families living with Downs Syndrome.

"This is just the beginning of a very exciting partnership and we are delighted to be supported by Global Relief Initiative." QPR
