QPR Official Site - Eight Set to Depart
- Eight QPR First Team squad members, including experienced midfielder Gavin Mahon, will leave the Club when their contracts expire over the coming weeks.
- Mahon, Georgios Tofas, Josh Parker, Lee Brown, Joe Oastler, Elliott Cox, Romone Rose and Pascal Chimbonda will all move on to pastures new.
- Speaking to www.qpr.co.uk, R's gaffer Neil Warnock explained: "There are some really good lads with good quality amongst the eight that we've released.
- "This could be just what they need to go on and kick-start their careers. I wish them all the best."

- MIKELE Leigertwood has revealed Neil Warnock effectively called time on his QPR career last October when he openly suggested fans had wrecked his confidence.
- But the midfielder, who switched to Reading on loan soon after, insists there are no regrets, even though he has now missed out on a return to top flight football after Monday's Championship play-off final.
- Leigertwood, who has just made his move to The Madejski Stadium permanent, cut a despondent figure as he sloped off the Wembley pitch at the end of a pulsating game.
- A 4-2 defeat at the hands of Swansea City means he will not be joining his old mates from west London in the Premier League next season - a division he played in while at Sheffield United four years ago.
- "It's a low point," said Leigertwood, who ironically may be in line for a Championship winners medal after making 10 appearances for QPR this season.
- "I'm obviously disappointed not to go up, It's hard to take. But I'm still proud to be part of this team and part of this squad.
- "I've got no problem with QPR. The fans have always been good to me there. They are always going to be disappointed if you misplace a pass now and again, but it doesn't help when the manager highlights that and says you have lost confidence.
- "The manager called it as he sees it, that's fair enough. But he also made it clear I didn't have a future there, so there was no point in staying.
- "I'm not going to sit around on the bench or not even travel to games and I made the decision to come and play games. I'm at a very good team.

Manager's position
Final-day win at Wolves spared Steve Kean a summer inquest into his position. Even so, Venky's are reportedly divided over the manager's credentials
Money to spend
Kean says Venky's has released "a very competitive budget. Miles bigger than in the past", but is talking of retaining Benjani Mwaruwari, and renewing loan deals for Roque Santa Cruz, Mame Biram Diouf and Jermaine Jones
Areas of change
The manager wants at least two strikers and a midfielder, although the extent of the overhaul depends on how many loan deals are renewed and whether he can keep their best defenders, Phil Jones and Christopher Samba

Bolton Wanderers
Manager's position
Bolton's season may have tailed off after their FA Cup semi-final collapse, but Owen Coyle is revered and is in no danger of dismissal. Indeed fans' biggest fear is that he will be poached by a bigger club

Precious little. Coyle will be required to wheel and deal, although he should be allowed to reinvest much of the cash received from the likely sales of Gary Cahill and Ali al-Habsi
Areas of change
A new striker is needed to replace Johan Elmander, who has joined Galatasaray on a free transfer, and Coyle could also do with identifying a centre-half
Possible targets
Could involve a part-exchange with Manchester City for Gary Cahill. Among those Roberto Mancini is prepared to throw into a cash-plus-player deal are Nedum Onuoha, Dedryck Boyata and Shaun Wright‑Phillips LT
Chelsea
Manager's position
Currently awaiting a successor to Carlo Ancelotti, with Guus Hiddink expected to return in some capacity to the club he steered to the FA Cup in a three-month cameo in 2009
Money to spend
Plenty if January's splurge on Fernando Torres and David Luiz is a pointer. Money will be needed to implement the changes required
Areas of change
Likely to be at least five senior players out – together with a few youngsters – with a similar number recruited as replacements. There is a recognition that an influx of younger players is needed to offer long-term stability

Everton

David Moyes' job is as secure as he wants it to be. He has a close relationship with the chairman, Bill Kenwright, and total control over football matters. But a wealthier club may tempt him away

As has been the case for the past three seasons, Moyes must raise the bulk of his transfer budget through player sales
Areas of change
More quality in attack is essential – as it was 12 months ago – while a replacement for Steven Pienaar at left midfield is also required. The rest will depend on whether Jack Rodwell, Marouane Fellaini, Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka stay

Fulham
Manager's position
Mark Hughes is safe at Craven Cottage, but may well be courted by bigger clubs. Fulham will attempt to retain him

There will always be some made available by the chairman, Mohamed Al Fayed. Hughes may well require evidence of financial backing. The possible sale of Andrew Johnson and Carlos Salcido could raise funds
Areas of change
There's not much wrong with Fulham's squad, though Hughes will seek to stamp his own image on a group of players still largely familiar from the Roy Hodgson era

Liverpool
Manager's position
Rock-solid. Kenny Dalglish transformed the club within weeks of his return in January and is the principal reason Fenway Sports Group's rebuilding work is ahead of schedule

Dalglish, the director of football, Damien Comolli, the chairman, Tom Werner, and the principal owner, John W Henry, have all stated that Liverpool will be competing at the top end of the market this summer
Areas of change
Several additions are needed to build last season's revival into a formidable challenge for a Champions League return – left and right midfielders, a left‑back and a central defender being among them

Manchester City
Manager's position
Roberto Mancini may, at times, have a frosty relationship with club officials but after an FA Cup win and third place in the Premier League, it would be a shock were he not in charge next season

Unknown. The problem is that the club, wary of Uefa's impending financial fair-play rules, want to invest modestly while offloading several high earners, but Mancini hopes to indulge in one last splurge
Areas of change
A lot hinges on whether Carlos Tevez stays. Even if he sticks around, Mancini wants a centre‑half, a winger and a playmaker while ensuring that the unwanted, including Craig Bellamy and Emmanuel Adebayor, are moved on

Manchester United
Manager's position
Health alone will determine the extent of Sir Alex Ferguson's tenure at Old Trafford

The Glazers have told Ferguson there will be a substantial funds available for the challenge of retaining pre-eminence in England while bridging the chasm between themselves and Barcelona in Europe
Areas of change
In Paul Scholes, Edwin van der Sar and Gary Neville, a wealth of experience vanishes from the squad. The Atlético Madrid goalkeeper David de Gea is expected to sign shortly – and improving central midfield is the main requirement

Around £20m of the £35m Andy Carroll loot to be spent on transfer fees and the other £15m to be invested in wages. Plus anything raised from player sales
Areas of change
The overall philosophy of buying unpolished gems aged under 25 remains. An attacking replacement for Carroll is required, as is added midfield creativity and left-footed defensive cover

Norwich City
Manager's position
After winning a second successive automatic-promotion, Paul Lambert's job is safe. For the first half of the season, at least

Not a great deal. Lambert has so far operated on a shoestring budget and he is likely to have around £5m to £10m to prepare for Norwich's return to the top-flight
Areas of change
Norwich have a handful of players with minimal Premier League experience so last week's signing of James Vaughan (Everton) for £2.5m points the way for future summer purchases
Possible targets
The Canaries have had two offers for the Millwall striker Steve Morison refused but are also interested in Robert Snodgrass and Bradley Johnson (Leeds United), and Fraser Forster (Newcastle) JJ
Queens Park Rangers
Manager's position
Not completely safe after Amit Bhatia, Neil Warnock's closest ally on the difficult-to-read board, resigned from his executive position in protest at ticket hikes
Money to spend
Perhaps only between £5m and £10m. Lakshmi Mittal, Bhatia's father-in-law, owns 33% and will not invest after the falling-out and his failed takeover of the club
Areas of change
Though Heidar Helguson, Wayne Routledge, Paddy Kenny and others have played in the top flight, Warnock's squad is short on Premier League experience – but he may have to rely on loan deals to recruit. They require a striker who will score at least 10 top‑flight goals

Kyle Walker, Kyle Naughton (both Tottenham), DJ Campbell (Blackpool) JJ
Stoke City
Manager's position
Safe as houses. Peter Coates, the chairman, described Tony Pulis as 'Stoke's best ever manager' two weeks ago

Coates has always backed Pulis – Stoke have broken their transfer record four times in little more than two years – and will do so again. A net spend of £20m seems likely
Areas of change
Must strengthen in readiness for the Europa League. Full-backs, a central defender, central midfielder and a striker will be on the wishlist. Abdoulaye Faye has been released and Michael Tonge, Andrew

No different to QPR and Norwich in their shortage of top-flight experience, but Swansea's squad is arguably the weakest of the three promoted clubs

Tottenham Hotspur
Manager's position
Harry Redknapp has a fractious relationship with the chairman, Daniel Levy, and is not expected to stay long-term. Has been touted as Fabio Capello's successor with England job

Levy showed in January that he is prepared to make sizeable offers for the right player. Meeting that player's wages, though, tends to be more of a problem
Areas of change
Heurelho Gomes has made his last fumble in goal, while a top-class striker is the priority. Redknapp must strip a bloated squad of its surplus parts

Jeremy Peace has long had a reputation for being conservative in the market, but the Albion chairman also needs to satisfy Hodgson's ambitions. Would be a surprise if they spent more than £15m net
Areas of change
Albion will have to resist interest from leading clubs in Peter Odemwingie and Youssuf Mulumbu. A goalkeeper, central defender and striker will be priorities. Abdoulaye Méïté and Gianni Zuiverloon have already departed

Quality support for Hugo Rodallega plus addressing a vulnerable central defence which almost cost Wigan their Premier League status. The goalkeeping position is also uncertain

Wolverhampton Wanderers

'We’re certainly not short of perennial bell-ends this season, I dare say most football fans could produce their own personal XI of players they’ve lost all love and respect for during this campaign. Be it the usual boo-boys who’ve kept winding us up, or the former childhood heroes who, shock and horror, fancied ploughing a topless model instead of watching their wives age, we’ve all had our hearts broken.
- But we deserve it. If we’re going to exhaust people we barely know, or worse, allow their behaviour to wind us up then we’ve only got ourselves to blame. That’s why this award is handed out to those who’ve really taken a shit from up high onto the heads of some poor, umbrella-less men and women who truly, truly deserved better. We’re talking to you Flavio Briatore, and whoever else had a say in Queens Park Rangers decision to charge every loyal supporter (who’ve stuck by them during the clubs leanest of spells) out of the hoop for the privilege of watching Premier League football. Not cool guys, not cool.
