QPR Official Site - DERRY: 'BOYS LOOKING GOOD'
R's midfield general Shaun Derry feels that the 13-0 scoreline from last night's (Monday) defeat of Tavistock could have been greater, as QPR kicked off their tour of Devon and Cornwall in style.
Derry started in his accustomed defensive midfield slot alongside Ali Faurlin, with the classy duo hardly putting a foot wrong in their time on the pitch.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Derry revealed: "It could have been 20-0!
"It's always nice to hit the back of the net, that's what it's all about.
"It gives the forwards, such as Hogan Ephraim, a lot of confidence.
"The opposition, with the greatest respect, didn't really cause Hogan any problems all night.
"There was a hell of a downpour before kick-off and that made the pitch slick.
"The pitch was in great form and that played into our hands."
Rangers face trips to Plymouth Argyle (Wednesday, kick-off 7.45pm) and Bodmin Town (Friday, kick-off 7.15pm) before they travel to Italy for their second tour of the summer, and Derry added: "We're starting to get there.
"The boys are looking good and it's encouraging.
"This tour (Cornwall) proved to be a sound footing for last season, and it can absolutely do that again.
"It's about getting to know people - especially new signings.
"It's difficult when you're a new player, because you can't really express what you're about as a person when you're training.
"But when you're living in each other's pockets, you get to know people, and that's what we're here for." QPR

Our Facebook page currently has over 12,800 followers and we want even more QPR fans staying in touch. The site is undergoing a number of changes, with several sections being added or tweaked to improve the experience for QPR fans, as well as making more information readily available. These include the following :
Welcome Page ... The Welcome Page will greet fans once they've logged into the Club's Facebook domain, displaying the top QPR headlines; the previous and upcoming match; player profiles; and a snapshot of our position in the table.
Shopping Page ... The refreshed Shopping Page will provide access to the latest products and special offers, but it won't just feature Superstore products. The page will also provide fans with the opportunity to purchase match tickets, hospitality seats, places in Soccer Schools and much more.
The Wall ... In addition to providing a community for our fans to share and discuss their views, we want them to be able to stay as close as possible to the matchday action. The Wall will be THE information portal during QPR matches, keeping fans updated with all the goals, saves, fouls and other talking points as they're taking place.

Our You Tube channel has been around for a while, but this season we're giving it a bit of an overhaul, bringing in a vibrant new look and feel and offering a broader range of behind-the-scenes content. The page will also be open to our fans, allowing them to submitting select footage of their own.

Jacob Murtagh - Ealing Gazette QPR striker prepared for Bothroyd battle
PATRICK Agyemang reckons he's never been in a better position to force his way into QPR's starting XI.
The Ghanaian frontman made the shock claim despite the signing of England striker Jay Bothroyd, while boss Neil Warnock still wants to add more firepower to his squad.
Agyemang has struggled with injuries for the past few seasons and is approaching the new campaign with a clean bill of health for the first time in years.
And the 30-year-old, who was on target in last night's 13-0 demolition of Tavistock, insists he can win a place up front.
He said: "We need good players if we are playing in the Premiership. Hopefully the extra competition can bring out the best in people.
"I'm 100 per cent fit I feel I can do anything. It's the first time in a while that I haven't broken down in training, which is good. I've been working hard on my fitness and my strength work.
"I need a good pre-season under my belt. In the past I've been playing catch up, especially last year, and when I came back the boys were flying. It's important that I get a good start."
Hogan Ephraim smashed four goals as Rangers ran riot in the South West, with Agyemang also opening his account for the summer.
He added: "The more games I play during pre-season the more goals I will score and the more confidence I will get.
"Everyone's on trial. Even though we went up, the gaffer's bringing in a lot of players so no one's place is safe. It's good competition." Gazette

Premier League football club aims to encourage other teams to promote the game to Roma and Travelling communities
Jason McCarthy has just scored a hat-trick against Bitty United. "They took it very well considering we won 8-3," he acknowledges. The "we" is a team called Goals Before Heroics, or GBH for short. "There are black lads, Asian lads, some white British lads and five are Travellers such as myself," McCarthy explains.
The accent is Irish, although he was born in Southall, west London, 22 years ago. "That's probably because we go back and forth to Ireland a lot," he says. It could also be a reflection of the insularity of a community that, although long settled in the London borough of Ealing, has never felt at home.
The Ealing Travellers' Achievement Service has set out to address that problem. Its manager, Jake George, spotted McCarthy's footballing skills and helped to put them at the disposal of Moving the Goalposts, Queens Park Rangers' initiative to provide high-quality sporting facilities for local Travelling communities. McCarthy is doing his grade 2 coaching certificate with QPR's community trust.
On Wednesday, he will be at the newly promoted Premier League club as it hosts a conference designed to provide professional football clubs and county football associations with the skills to work more closely with Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities. Representatives from Liverpool, Everton, Bolton Wanderers, Norwich City and Leeds United are expected to attend.
There are currently just two players from such backgrounds in the English professional game. One is Tottenham's Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart who grew up in a caravan park. The other is Freddy Eastwood of Coventry City who has had his fair share of abusive chants from opposition fans and derisive comments from opposition players.
McCarthy started his sporting life boxing, aged 10, because that has been traditionally what fathers in Traveller communities have expected of their sons. "I always loved football but wasn't allowed to play at any serious level until I was nearly 16," he recalls. "Clubs would often tell you that they were fully booked. And those few Travellers who were allowed in found that their own team wouldn't pass to them and the opposition would wind them up by calling them 'pikeys' or whatever."
QPR's inclusion and diversity officer, Gareth Dixon, insists that the conference is about "spreading the chance to benefit from the health and social side of football" to a community that has largely been denied the opportunity. Allowing coaches to cast an eye over a potential pool of new talent is secondary. "Although if anyone is good enough, we can send them on to centres of excellence," he adds. "Social inclusion is about giving Travellers the same opportunities as everyone else
